Call me pedantic but I'd imagine because of the overtly scary patriotic-ness of the organisation, I'd imagine they would spell it 'defence' and be signed by the Queen.

Nethertheless very good, have a fav. I wonder if I can now add CoA after my name and change my title to 'Captain'.

Yes I can see it when I go for a job interview:

Interviewer: So it says CoA on your CV, what does CoA stand for?
Me: Oh, certificate of appreciation, I got it from Torchwood when I was passing by the Isle of Dogs during the whole Cyberman invasion thing.
Interviewer: Riiiiiigght...security please...
Me: That's funny, that's exactly what they said.

You never know, Jack could have introduced it to piss Yvonne Hartman off.
