While shopping today, I came across the store's book section, and what do I see? Book after book after book after book, about VAMPIRES. I took a glance at the back of a couple, and noticed that they all just about had the same plot: Vampire, falls for non-vampire, other vampires want to stop it. It's like publishers went through their slush piles (unsolicited manuscripts they've received), and sought out every vampire-related story that was there.
Now, don't get me wrong; I like vampires. There's just something about them that's seductive. However, it has to be a GOOD vampire story, not just ANY vampire story. Hence, the above Dracula stamp (and, yes, I know that Bela Lugosi is in the picture, and the quote isn't in the book, but from the movie; Bram Stoker never drew his own version of the character, and Lugosi doesn't really look like the description all that much; so sue me).
All I'm saying is, don't let the *newer* stories, be your *only* stories. Go read DRACULA, SALEM'S LOT by Stephen King, ANNO DRACULA by Kim Newman, or any of the near-countless (pun intended) stories that predate the newer ones. Who knows? You might even enjoy them...
Vampies are love ^.^ I agree that there is alot of stuff out there that sucks beyond words and that most vampes end up being nearly human with a few minor weaknesses or are always the brooding hero who is rejected and hated by all but one beautiful girl who can see the good in him, they end up having sex, he saves the world and they live happily ever after (wow, can we say run on ). Same ol same ol. But some can be pretty good. I personaly like the Blue Bloods series. It's not what you would expect. They arnt monsters but arnt twilight vamps either. Somewhere in the middle. Anyway, love the stamp.

I had at one point though about doing a comic of that new tween craze, you know the one, with the main non-vampire girl standing holding a door open, and outside is a line stretching to the horizon with picket signs. All the people in the line would be previous vampires, the various Draculas, the Blood Countess, on through Vampire Hunter D and of course the newer ones like Lestat and so on. Since, let's face it, the new thing is just a poorly written copy of Interview and Queen. But I digress.
Love the stamp.

yeah, ever since Twilight (which I never have and never will read unless bribed with a considerable sum) there has been alot of this crap flying around, I have no interest in it, personally, I like Carpe Jugulum, the vampires there rule a large slice of Überwald and try to pass as decent people in order to get more power and blood, other books by the author feature a temperance league for vampires trying to get off blood, although it makes them a bit nutty and they only do it because they don't want to get killed by angry mobs
